Let Me Introduce Myself…

OK, let me be straight with you right from the start…

If you were to swing by my place, you won't find me living in some enormous mansion.

You won't find a flashy sports car sitting on the driveway.

And you certainly won't find a swimming pool out in the back garden.

Put simply, unlike so much of what you see on sales pages, I'm not raking in millions every year.

WHAT I DO have, though, is the freedom that comes from quietly running my own little internet business from home for years.

The freedom to do the things I want to do (or, if I'm honest, the things my family wants to do) when I want to do them. 🙂

The freedom that has let me be there for just about every moment that actually matters…

The school runs, the sports days, the plays, the little everyday things you never get back…

…you name it, I was there.

The freedom to give my time to the causes I care about, from lending a hand locally to helping wherever I'm needed.

And all of this from putting in just a few focused hours a day.

So I suppose what I'm really saying is this: if the idea of running your own internet business and earning that kind of freedom appeals to you, then I think you'll enjoy being on my email list and receiving my emails. 😊

You'll quickly find my emails are a little different from the endless stream of others landing in your inbox.

Alongside the fun, I also give you an honest look at what running an online business is REALLY like.

Unlike some marketers, I'll happily tell you about the mistakes and the flops I've made…

…as well as the stuff that genuinely works.

I'm not afraid to have a laugh at my own expense, either. 😄

In short, you get the real me and the real business, warts and all.

Which, in a world this polished and image-obsessed, is surprisingly rare.

But I'm getting ahead of myself, because this was supposed to be an introduction…

So, with that in mind, hi, I'm Adam Kier…

…though online you'll come to know me as The Starter Buddy. 🙂

My background before all this was in managing a busy independent bike shop as the shop manager and lead mechanic, and I still keep my hand in with a bit of it every now and again.

I've always been fascinated by how people learn and grow (myself very much included), which is really what pulled me toward helping beginners in the first place.

It's fair to say I love people and the way we all tick.

I was born and raised in Boulder, Colorado, and these days I live just down the road in Bend, Oregon.

I've been with my partner for six years, and between family life and work there's never a dull moment in our house. 😊

I used to enjoy playing a bit of sport, until my body told me in no uncertain terms that those days were behind me.

So for the last few years I've really got into gravel cycling instead. I'll never win any medals, but it's something I'm always trying to get a little better at. 🏃

At the start of this intro I told you I love the freedom my online efforts bring me.

And one of the ways I use that freedom now is by giving back to my local community whenever I can.

Because when your time is your own, you get to decide how to spend it…

…instead of a boss telling you what you should be doing for the best part of your day.

And when I'm not writing emails, helping out, or being a partner and dad, you'll usually find me restoring vintage steel-frame road bikes, brewing my own IPAs, and planning multi-day bike-packing trips into the wilderness.

OK, hopefully that gives you a bit of an insight into who I am and why I might just be worth a spot in your inbox.

Here's what to expect: regular emails from me.

Those daily emails are the main reason for the freedom I enjoy, so even if you take nothing else away, just pay attention to what I say and the way I say it.

As I mentioned, you'll find it's a bit different from most marketers.

I also know full well I'm not going to be everyone's cup of tea…

(there's no accounting for taste) 😉

…which is exactly why every email I send will ALWAYS have an unsubscribe link at the bottom.
